Fairway Finders Foundation · South Africa

Finding South Africa's next generation of golfers.

Plenty of talented kids in South Africa have never set foot on a golf course. We go and find them, then give them the coaching, equipment and competition they need.

Young golfer at the top of her backswing

South Africa keeps producing world-class golfers. Most kids never get the chance to find out if they could be next. We're working on that.

A hand placing a golf ball on the tee

Fairway Finders Foundation introduces young people to golf through schools and community programmes across South Africa. When a player shows promise, we stay with them: coaching, equipment and tournament entries, for as long as they keep at it. Most of the kids we work with had never held a club before they met us.

The four
fairways.

We run four programmes. Together they cover a player's whole journey, from a first lesson at school to national junior tournaments.

Find

Talent identification

We hold open clinics and scouting days in townships and rural communities. Teachers and local coaches help us identify kids who show ability and want to play, and we invite them into the programme.

Play

Tournament opportunities

Competition is where young players improve fastest. We pay for tournament entries, transport and accommodation so our players can compete in junior events around the country and start building a ranking.

Equip

Equipment support

Many of our players can't afford their own clubs. We supply full sets, shoes, balls and clothing through donations, refurbished equipment and sponsor-funded grants, so nobody has to practise with borrowed kit.

Learn

Schools programme

Our coaches run introduction-to-golf classes at partner schools, using modified equipment and drills that work on any playground. For most of the kids it's the first time they've played the game.
